Saddleworth - a rural parish on the edge of the Diocese of Leeds
The Sacred Heart Catholic Church is on the High Street in Uppermill, one of the larger Saddleworth villages. The parish covers the huge area of Saddleworth, following the old Yorkshire boundaries extending from Springhead to Denshaw and from Greenfield to Austerlands. It also includes the villages of Dobcross, Delph, Diggle, Lydgate, Grasscroft, Grotton, Scouthead, Friezland and Uppermill.
The Saddleworth Catholic parish is on the very edge of the Leeds Diocese, bordering both the Salford and Shrewsbury Catholic Dioceses. It is a vibrant community, serving not only the spiritual and pastoral needs of Catholics, but as a fully committed member of Churches Together in Saddleworth, it reaches out to people of other denominations, faiths and none.
