First Forgiveness and Holy Communion

Preparation for these Sacraments follow a wonderful programme call "I Belong" and is offered to children over a two year period. The Diocese is currently preparing programmes of preparation for both Sacraments.

During the programme the children discover more about the sacraments through simple Bible stories taken from the Old and New Testament, activities and discussion and can share their new knowledge with their families. The parents are also offered an opportunity to discover more about the Catholic faith.

The Sacramental Programme is catechist-led and runs in the parish from September to June each year. The parents of the children are actively involved and work together to prepare the children.

First Forgiveness (Reconciliation, Confession) is usually celebrated during Lent, with First Holy Communion taking place in June. The whole parish joins in celebrating these significant events in the children's lives as they take part in these wonderfully grace filled Sacraments with the whole church family and in other significant events throughout the year.

We are invited to pray for all the children who are taking their Sacraments and also for their families.

Prayer sponsors are invited to pray for one of the children throughout the year.
